teach by heart


Motivating: to teach by heart
I am me. Me is human. I am this body. But I am in this body; means I am divine but I am also animal, means I am divided into two parts. This body that is me and this heart that is me too. When a part of this body is hurt, I say I am hurt. And when somebody fools me or annoy me I say I am hurt. It is confusing but one thing to be known is that both soul and body unified by emotion we call heart.
Just our hearts concludes that we are really hurt no matter it is internally hurt or externally hurt. Hearts are bridges between bodies and souls. Then, let your heart speak and you’ll know what you really need. It is not wrong that Aristotle said: “what comes out of heart will enter heart”. Well, now, who has heart? Many people say that having heart means never angry at anybody. But actually it is wrong. In my opinion, having heart means be able to manage our emotion to control this life and other lives. We make a flashback to what our Lord has done in Jerusalem by having kicked out all the traders from the church. Our Lord showed us that he also got angry but then several minutes later He healed sick people in that church. He got angry to exact person, exact time and exact portion. That is the ability to control or manage emotion. This is called heart playing.
And heart playing will be very good if we have pure heart. And I stipulate that one pure heart will be a good strong vyrus to attack and affect other. Having pure heart gives other willing to attempt us but patience that is one of the kind of controlling emotion makes us win again. Having pure heart give other chance to make us hurt to repair their hearts, just let it be by always having pure heart toward them. Finally, they will have time to reflect what occur. And the best time it decides that we really love them. That’s the really part of our divine.

If you meet a person and you want to shock him, I suggest you to only tell him that you live in Toianas, and you will see many negative responses from him. I actually teach there. I felt that at the first time when I was just told to go there, the devils of the place had come to fetch me. The people story, I lately realize, that is only a storytale frankly scared me and my friends. Many of my friends laughed at me when they know my place of teaching.
But their laughter challenged me... I wouldn't be scared.. I knew my ancestors came around from this place... you would know it if you ask them too where “Selan”(my surname) come from. I want to start my carrier from here. I decided to stay.
It so long story. Now let me shorten it. After staying here, I found that my knowledge about method and technique in teaching English don't really help me. The students psychological aspects are not the same as what the psychologists wrote and what I studied at university, even I have to confess that those become my fondation to assess my students... method I learnt in university were not able to be applied here. . Sometimes they were so officially bored. I need to find a new method. I also have to explain that may be some people misunderstand what method is, what I mean by method is just like CBSA (cara belajar siswa aktif) which is applied for such a long term, while what is usually written on RPP (Rencana Pelaksanaan Pembelajaran) as Metode is actually Technique if I see from what I was taught in university.
The method I mean should pay attention to the moral of students in Toianas (I am proud to say this, that I firstly realize it before our president made his speech about pendidikan berkarakter even pembuatan RPP berkarakter bangsa). I ever wanted to write about “robohnya moral kami” after I read A.A.Navis story about “robohnya surau kami”. So, I really need a method that make my students to be more emotionally clever. Since I taught that English is not what I have to teach them but moral control. If they can control themselves, have thought about their future and their aim of lives. I can make sure that they finally can get not only English that I teach but every teaching material and unteaching material; maybe, this is what “clever in spiritual” means. It should be importantly know too that my people are clever because we have culture to control our behaves which I similarize it as SQ (spiritual Quality); other people may have IQ, or EQ but we have our SQ which make us clever.
And I keenly want to see my students have it. Teach English and bring back my students to the culture is my plan to get SQ.
I also suggest English teachers around Soe to modify their method. Not like method we have been taught in our teachery education but based on our place of teaching. Many method were created by people outside our province, just based on their place.... why should be apply it in our place in which we have different characters, condition and situation.
I also want to blame the education department... why should we decide technique (read in RPP:metode) night before we teach? Which become bored in the teaching process. I think it should be decided 15 minutes before teaching after the teacher enter the class, see the mood of students.
Just as my people who have hard characters, with their story to scare teacher to be creative. Not only that, my students have a bad habit of decieving. They very often lie me...
so these become background of my decision to make my own method by cutting and pasting several methods I learnt in university. This method I simplify it just like technique but is still have to be applied for 1 year at least.

Orientation.
At the early of semester, I apply “warung jujur” program. By this program I want to tell my students that decieving is wrong and students should not do it. Just creativily design a game to find out whether students are honest or not. And continue it with discussion of decieving impact. It should be led to the saying “honest to yourself”
Physical game before teaching process
educational practitioners call it set induction or opening. I prefer to use term in sport that is warming up. At this moment students are guided to be relax but still have consentration. Make a game to call to earth the students thinking other things or they who have been bored for any reasons.

Evaluation every month
teacher should have evaluation on students, their behaves, their cognitives to know their developments. It is also to evaluate whether the techniques applied work out or not. For students who are more: active, pasive, teacher should have separate sheet evaluation.

And finally other aspects applied in our commonly method can be used again. Such as formative, summative and so on. But I suggest English teachers to create class as daily life situation. That's all from me..
